  • What vehicle do you have?

We can do these conversions on smaller vans, this concept works where only the 2 front seats are needed for travelling. The advantage of these vans is the small foot print, they are easy to drive, fun and economical.

  • Design

We have thought long & hard about our "Freerunner" concept and we have tried many set ups over the years. We feel this set up makes the best of the available space, we have focused on keeping the bed low so there is good head room when using the bed as a seat.

  • Vangear "back up"

We pride ourselves on good service. Team Vangear always tries to resolve problems, we have backup parts and always come up with ideas to move forward and come up with a solution to any problems.

Freerunner concept #1 Space & Light

Created a low level bed combined with a pull out bed section to form a wider bed. Still with room to get your legs out of bed and onto the floor, addressed the important headroom issue when the bed is in seating bench mode, and kept the bench as low as possible. I am 6' 2" but I fit into the Caddy-"Freerunner".A light and airy feeling is created with the all-round fitted windows letting you keep in touch with a landscape view.

Freerunner Concept #2 Sociable Space & Easy Set Up

By combining a north/south bed and a side mounted kitchen we have created a practical space for a living area. There is a cosy seating area with cushioned bench seat and the easy operation of the bed and seat make transforming your campervan into night-time mode simple and fast. The bed width is 105cm. This set up also allows room for sporting equipment i.e bikes, skis or surfboards.

Freerunner Concept #3 Storage

An important aspect is storage, you need room to put all of your stuff! We have spent time with our design to maximize available storage areas. Our concept is to keep the modules small and leave space under the bed for storage, the bed has hinged doors on the lower section to keep your belongings organised and contained. There are also unwin rails along the side of the vehicle for hanging bags. Working with the available space there needs to be a feeling of space, which we feel has been achieved.

Freerunner Concept #4 Cooking

We all love food and part of the camping experience is cooking. With the “Freerunner” set up we have taken experiences from many camping trips to realise that campervan cooking is both an indoor and outdoor thing. Coming from England, where it often rains, there is a need to cook in the van. For this the Maxi-Pod has your back, there is a stove and a sink for cooking indoors and a rear sliding drawer to slide the kitchen outside for those sunny days.

Freerunner Concept #5 Caddy

For this conversion we picked the Volkswagen Caddy. We wanted a platform that you can be proud of. The Caddy is a durable and low depreciation platform that in our view offers significant benefits over the competition. Anyone who has a feeling for high standards of longevity will immediately recognise the Volkswagen Caddy as the best, most logical and practical choice for your next small campervan to explore the world.
