Q. Will I need to assemble my unit?

A.No, our pods are fully assembled and ready to fit.


Q. Do I need a floor rail system in my van (like the VW California)?

A. No our units can also just be bolted down to the floor of your van. We also have anchor/cleats for the VW California rail system.


Q. Will I need to do any plumbing?

A. No our units are pre plumbed in with fully integrated plumbing systems including a auto tap, pump, plumbing , clean water and grey water bottles


Q. Which gas bottle do I need?

A. The Campingaz (blue) R904 refillable bottle. The smaller R901 bottle is also compatible.


Q. Does my unit need 12v electric?

A. Our units come with a fitted 12v plug (cigarette lighter plug) to power the auto pump (which only uses a very small amount of 12v power)
To hard wire into your van,  just remove the plug.


Q. Does a unit with a fridge or cooler need a leisure battery?

A. Yes, for operation when the engine is off a leisure battery will be needed.


Q Which units will work for a DVLA (UK) campervan tax class change?

A. The requirement is a double burner hob, ie our Maxi and Maxi XS units only. 


Q. What happens if I have a problem with fitment into my van?

A. Our Fitment Support Guarantee


In the event of problems fitting your pod we will:
  1. Help with technical advice
  2. Help you with any fitting adaptors/extra mounting plates
  3. In the unlikely event that the unit does not fit - A 14 day return policy



Q. How long does manufacture and delivery take?

A. Remember our Vangear campervan units are made to order at our Brighton workshop,
so please allow 2 1/2 weeks until dispatch as we have to build and ship your unit.
We aim for less, but a busy schedule and stock levels can be a factor.

Q. Do we export?

We export to mainly west/central Europe.

Well send parcels (Nano & Kombi 3 units) with DHL/Parcelforce. 

We also send pallet deliveries (Maxi XS, Maxi & Systems) to Germany, Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium and Luxembourg. A quote will be required for France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic



Q. Do we make LHD and RHD?

A. Yes we can make our Maxi/Maxi XS system for either side of the van.

Q. How can the tables be stored?

Mini Table (550mm x 200mm) - This can be stored inside the Kombi 3 and Maxi XS units. There is also the option to buy our table storage clips (self-fitting only) to store it on the back. There is a separate table storage kit for the Nano.

Large Table (490mm x 615mm) - This can be stored inside the Maxi pod and on the back of the Maxi XS and Kombi 3 pods with our table storage clips (self-fitting only). There is a separate table storage kit for the Nano.

Q. How are the Nano & Kombi pods delivered?

A.The Nano and Kombi are delivered in a box and with an
extra box for the table, extras etc.  DPD will e-mail and text you tracking details.  

Q. How are the larger Maxi XS/Maxi/Modular Systems delivered?

A. The larger units will be delivered on a pallet. Please bear in mind pallet delivery tracking is
not as interactive as parcel delivery. We will send you the tracking number and please try and arrange to be in for the delivery. They will give an aproximate time and will ring your mobile ahead. 

Q. What are the delivery costs ?

A. For UK mainland Parcelforce/DHL (Nano & Kombi 3) = £25  

EU Parcelforce/DHL (Nano & Kombi 3) = £35 

UK pallet (Maxi XS/Maxi/System) = £35

EU pallet - Germany, Netherlands, Benelux, Luxembourg and Ireland pallet = £55

For other EU - France, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, Italy and Austria a quote will be required.


Q Will I receive delivery tracking?

A. Yes, the shipping company will email you tracking details.

Q. What happens if there is a missed delivery / delay / damage 

A. Occasionally there are delivery problems and this can be frustrating for both you and for us, but we will always sort out any problems.

Q. How easy are our units to fit?

A. Here at Vangear we have spent many years designing and developing our campervan pods so when it
comes to fitting a Vangear unit, we have some advantages

Please check for damages and report them within 48 hours of receiving the unit. Please keep the original packaging in case you need to return the unit.

  • Please check for delivery damage and keep any packaging.

  • We have designed our units to be simple to fit, however, if you do not feel confident with any part of the installation please ask for advice. 

  • Use the power cable to connect to the 12v power. Pass the cable through hole in the base of the unit (the cable can easily be stretched out).

  • Always empty the waste bottle at the same time as filling the water bottle to avoid overfilling the waste bottle.

  • When using the tap for the first time, turn the tap on/off a few times to clear any air.

  • We have supplied a Campingaz regulator (not Nano) for Campingaz bottles R904/R901.  

  • Instructions for the gas hob are included (Dometic or CAN). The guarantee for the hob is handled via Dometic service centres. Please refer to the Dometic website: https://www.dometic.com/en-gb/uk/support

  • We kindly request that you thoroughly test all of the functions of your pod before going on holiday 


Safety Information

  • Only use the hob in well ventilated areas.

  • Never close the lid when the burner is alight.

  • Never change the gas bottle near naked flame.

  • Always shut off the gas bottle at the regulator during transit.

  • Use a CO2 alarm, check the battery regularly.

  • Never leave your lit hob unattended.

           

  • If the tambour door is stiff use silicone spray to lubricate the door tracks.

 

  • Make sure the hob pot holders are pushed fully home to avoid rattles on the glass lid.



 

Fitting Instructions:

 
  • Take care when drilling through the van floor. 

  • There are mounting slots in the base of the units and the units can be fixed to the floor using the supplied bolts or one of our anchor cleats. 

 
  1. Position and dry fit the unit in place to check the positions of all units relative to van

  2. Hint - it’s a good idea to mark the positions with masking tape

  3. Mark the fixing holes through the slots in the base of the unit

  4. Drill holes

  5. Pass power cable through mounting slots

  6. Re position unit and fix with hex bolts

  7. Or use the anchor cleat option to fit to rail system i.e. VW Caravelle, California Beach etc

  8. Anchor cleats for the VW rail system slide into the rail through plastic caps at the end of the rails. 

 


Nano unit

 

The tap head is loose in the fittings bag (to stop damage in delivery) and needs to be pushed on hard onto the tap


Kombi/XS/Maxi

 
  • These units use the Campingaz R904 (large) or R901 (small).

  • For the Maxi only, the large table fits inside the unit with the leg on the left and clips on the right.

  • For instructions on the hobs please refer to the included instruction manuals. 

  • Due to the numerous possible positions of the units there may be the need for drilling an additional in the plywood base of the unit. 

 

 

 Modular system

 
  • Always dry fit the units first to work out their positions relative to the van 

  • After reference to fitting instructions above:

  • If necessary, the overhang on the wheel arch unit has can be cut with a handsaw or a jigsaw with a downward cutting jigsaw blade

  • Fix the wheel arch unit to the floor via the 3 mounting slots. 

  • The top storage unit is fixed with the provided bolts to the wheel arch unit. It may be necessary to fix the top storage unit to the side of the van with a bracket.
